Artur Serra, Deputy Director of i2CAT and also vice-president of the European Network of Living Labs, has participated at the Open Innovation 2.0 conference last May 24th.
His speech “Opening the European innovation system to 500 million of citizens" exposed how Living Labs can create open innovation distributed systems where the citizens are empowered to learn and innovate by themselves.
Besides the Living Labs other several topics were discussed during the Open Innovation 2.0 event: Innovation Ecosystems; OI2 funding opportunities under Horizon 2020; Online Engagement Platforms (Big Data, Cloud, IoT, participatory design)...
The conference was preceded by a Camp for Societal Innovation which brought together people with different backgrounds to address the challenges brought by cities, regions, industry, universities and NGOs.
The OI2 Conference has been held under the label of the Dutch EU Presidency, and has been co-organised by the European Commission DG CONNECT's Open Innovation Group (OISPG) together with Intel Labs Europe, Committee of the Regions, CGI, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, City of Amsterdam, and kindly supported by Dublin City Council.
This 2016 edition of the event has gathered more than 350 people around the following action oriented themes: Open Innovation 2.0 and Digital Single Market, ePlatforms, Data Driven Innovation, Urban Agenda, Future Cities, Living Labs and Business Challenges as cross-cutting themes, just to list a few, we have Power of Crowds; Experimentation and Prototyping; and Citizen Engagement in practise.
Closing the event it took place the Living Labs 10th anniversary celebration ceremony organized by European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL) with a Greeting Address by the President of the Committee of the Regions Markku Markkula. http://www.openlivinglabs.eu/
