{"id":8454,"date":"2020-10-13T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-12T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/i2cat.net\/open-call-for-the-new-edition-of-smartcatalonia-challenge\/"},"modified":"2020-10-13T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-10-12T22:00:00","slug":"open-call-for-the-new-edition-of-smartcatalonia-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/i2cat.net\/ca\/open-call-for-the-new-edition-of-smartcatalonia-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Open call for the new edition of SmartCatalonia Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Open call for the 7th edition of the innovation competition <a href=\"https:\/\/participa.challenge.cat\/assemblies\/ACA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SmartCatalonia Challenge,<\/a> promoted by the Secretariat for Digital Policies of the Generalitat of Catalonia.<\/h3>\n<p>This year&#8217;s competition of the SmartCatalonia Challenge, which has been prepared in cooperation with the <a href=\"http:\/\/aca.gencat.cat\/ca\/laca\/sobre-laca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Catalan Water Agency (ACA)<\/a>, sets out 4 challenges related to the Catalan water ecosystem which are susceptible to be solved by innovative solutions based on ICT.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative encourages the participation of Catalan start-ups and SMEs capable of offering an innovative, viable, and adapted solution to one (or more) of the proposed calls:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Challenge 1 &#8211;<\/strong> Water&#8217;s optimization in agriculture: how to get efficient water management to increase the availability of water.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Challenge 2 &#8211; <\/strong>Optimal maintenance of the water flow: how to improve efficiency in the control of water use and ensure optimal river flows at all times.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Challenge 3 &#8211; <\/strong>Treatment of pollutants: how to help to identify, trace, reduce, and treat pollutants in water systems.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Challenge 4 &#8211; <\/strong>Promote renewable energies: how to calculate and encourage using energy from renewable sources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traducci\u00f3n\"><span lang=\"en\">The presentation, in telematic format, was chaired by Dani Marco, Director of Innovation and the Digital Economy, and Llu\u00eds Ridao, Director of the Catalan Water Agency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traducci\u00f3n\">The deadline for submitting proposals is January 8, 2021. From then on, a jury will pre-select the top ten proposals, which will compete live in the Finale scheduled for January 28.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/smartcatalonia.gencat.cat\/ca\/projectes\/ciutats_i_regions\/smartcat-challenge\/apuntat-a-la-competicio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Join the Challenge<\/a>! With 5 challenges to solve with an ICT solution, 4 innovative ideas were selected:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1st place &#8211; <strong>Shotl:<\/strong>\u00a0a software that allows transport-on-demand.<\/li>\n<li>2nd place &#8211; <strong>Easy2bwise: <\/strong>an app to capture and manage rural&#8217;s generational\u00a0replacement.<\/li>\n<li>3rd place &#8211; <strong>STAT-ON: <\/strong>a solution that allows remote monitoring of Parkinson&#8217;s patients.<\/li>\n<li>Extraordinary prize &#8211; <strong>Volta: <\/strong>a platform for the local economy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The winners have received cash prizes up to 20.000 \u20ac and Shotl has the opportunity to perform a pilot test with ARCA.
