GUIDE

Supporting the Strategic Deployment Agendas for the EU corridors

Started at: 01-01-2023
Ends on: 30-06-2025

Budget: € 999 996

Areas: Research and Innovation Policy and Strategy in Europe (RISE)

Description:

The GUIDE project coordinates the development of the 5G Strategic Deployment Agendas (SDA) in the area of 5G for CAM and facilitates the CEF Digital 5G Corridors topic future project pipelines based on the evolution of the SDA. This includes the development of technology deployment roadmaps, cooperation models and best practices by combining the inputs of the CEF projects with the stakeholder views. The project will capture and share the best practices of CEF 5G Corridors study and deployment projects to achieve common approaches leading to a consistent deployment across the EU.

The GUIDE project is also supporting the monitoring of the deployment progress of the projects towards their goals and the goals of the CEF Digital 5G Corridors topic. This support is also being used to assist performance evaluation, share solutions, and support project cooperation towards consistent and cost-effective implementations across the EU.

Through these actions, the GUIDE project is helping to ensure coherence in the operation and collaborative working of the 5G Corridors topic of the CEF Digital program as a whole.

Within this project, i2CAT leads Work package WP2 – SDA Development and Monitoring, whose main objectives are:

  • Collaborate with WP1 activities to ensure proper engagement of the necessary stakeholders, who must contribute to building the new versions of the 5G SDA for the automotive and rail sectors. Activities must aim to engage with the entire CCAM ecosystem and its intersection with the SNS community, as well as with other relevant communities that might be identified in the European context.
  • Produce two new versions of the 5G SDA for Connected and Automated Mobility.
  • Maximize the impact of the SDA documents to ensure that the statements and agreements reflected in those documents can have a positive impact on the deployment of 5G infrastructure for CCAM and ensure that they can provide value to all stakeholders, including private and public sectors, to ensure that a 360º coverage is provided in light a successful provision of CCAM services on European roads, thus meeting the objectives of the Digital Europe strategy by 2030.

More specifically, within GUIDE, i2CAT supports the Smart Networks and Service Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) Strategic Working Group on 5G for CAM (Deployment).

Estimated impact:

The GUIDE project will provide some essential organisation and operational infrastructure that will allow the active CEF 5GCorridors project community to communicate and collaborate smoothly and efficiently, even when the number of running projects in the programme grows large.  GUIDE will do this actively with the other CEF Digital Coordination and support action, 5GINTEGRA, to ensure consistent and complementary approaches to community support and communications are achieved.
