Sergi Figuerola, PhD, the director of i2CAT, attended TechSpirit Barcelona 2024 yesterday and gave a keynote speech on the future beyond limits that 6G will empower and the convergence between the physical and digital worlds.
The conversation started with a hyper-realistic version of Sergi displayed on a screen. It was a holographic version of himself captured in 3D. The hologram was possible thanks to a technology developed by i2CAT called HoloMiT, an advanced Holoportation Technology for Immersive VR/AR/XR Experiences. What makes HoloMiT different from other services is that it can support virtual gatherings in real-time, delivering high-quality 3D representations of people for immersive environments with no need for processing between capture and delivery.
This system can optimise the experience for various applications, such as healthcare, cultural heritage, commercial promotion, entertainment, or events.
