i2EDGE is an advanced on-premise edge orchestrator built to manage the full lifecycle of industrial applications deployed at the network edge. It enables autonomous, zero-touch application deployment, positioning applications closer to data sources and end users to minimize latency and optimize network performance. By offloading computation from the cloud to edge nodes, i2EDGE increases data processing efficiency, reduces network congestion, and provides a more responsive environment for industrial applications.
Beyond supporting industrial applications and cloud-native network functions, i2EDGE can register multiple infrastructures or clusters, allowing streamlined management of computational resources across all registered infrastructures. This capability enables applications to be deployed flexibly across nodes, availability zones, or even data centres, with the option to migrate applications dynamically as contextual demands change. This adaptability ensures that applications can operate closer to data sources or end users when required, enhancing both performance and resource efficiency.
The diagram below provides a high-level view of a typical deployment architecture, illustrating how services can be strategically deployed on industrial premises to optimize responsiveness and operational efficiency based on application-specific computational or latency requirements.
In the following video demonstration, we will illustrate how i2EDGE registers a new cluster and collects details about its available zones. Once this information is acquired, i2EDGE will onboard artefacts for future deployment as application instances. These onboarded artefacts are then profiled, forming part of a local application catalogue, enabling future deployments without the need for re-onboarding. Finally, we will demonstrate how i2EDGE deploys the application to the appropriate availability zone and node based on operational needs. Once deployed, i2EDGE continues to oversee and manage the application’s lifecycle.
