The Government of Catalonia recognizes and boosts women’s role in STEM through the DonaTIC awards

The call to select the 6h edition winners is now open until August 18th

The Ministry for Digital Policy of the Government of Catalonia presents the 6th edition of DonaTIC awards, a competition that recognizes the essential role of women in new technologies – professional, corporative and academic – and that aspires to inspire young girls who want to pursue a career in the STEM disciplines.

The call to receive candidatures opened on the 19th of June and closes the 18th of August. The awards are classified into three areas with eight categories in total. The candidates must fit only into one of these categories: 

  • Entrepreneur: founder or co-founder of an active enterprise working for ICT. 
  • Manager: of a consolidated enterprise dedicated to ICT.
  • Professional: works for an enterprise or organization or is a freelance dedicated to ICT, owning an ICT degree.
  • Academic/Researcher: dedicated to training and/or research in ICT.
  • Divulgation: working in ICT communications.
  • Revelation: with a relevant and important role in the ICT sector.
  • ICT student: from a University or VET/HNC related to ICT, and must have participated in a remarkable project and/or initiative.
  • Inspirational initiatives: A business, entity, training center or institution with an initiative that values women’s role in ICT.

This 2020, the DonaTIC awards will take place on the 13th of October, coinciding with the celebration of Ada Lovelace’s figure, the first female programmer in history. Acknowledged prestigious professionals of the technology sector will form the jury, which will evaluate the candidatures and select one winner and two finalists for each category. 

The DonaTIC awards are framed in the DonaTIC plan, a strategic initiative with the main goal of increasing female presence in the ICT sector. This call is organized by the Ministry for Digital Policy in collaboration with the Institut Català de les Dones, the Observatori Dona, Empresa i Economia (Barcelona Chamber of Commerce) and the Tertúlia Digital association.
