Under the motto ‘5G is the new mobility’, the Government of Catalonia is presenting a live demonstration of 5G-based remote driving to show how this technology will help improve mobility by making it more efficient and, above all, safer.
In the near future, vehicles will be able to communicate with the infrastructure, with other vehicles and with their environment thanks to 5G’s low latency and high bandwidth. This will provide real-time information that will allow for the improvement of road safety, infrastructure management and mobility efficiency.
The pilot is a joint project among the Ministry of the Vice-presidency, Digital Policies and Territory, CCMA, i2CAT and Robots MiR, framed in the 5G Strategy of Catalonia and the 5GMed Corridor. The demo is possible thanks to 5G Vodafone’s connectivity and Cellnex’s special collaboration.
