Sergi Figuerola, CTIO at i2CAT, will participate in the first space congress in Spain

The event will be held for the first time in Madrid on October 9 and 10.

Nowadays the space sector is one of the great engines of economic growth and one of the most influential industries worldwide. Behind the United States, Europe is the second-largest space power and Spain is one of the five main countries in the industry.

To promote the capabilities of the sector, and share the challenges, opportunities, and goals for the coming years, on October 9 and 10 will be held in Madrid the first edition of the Space Congress.

The forum will bring together renowned stakeholders from the industry, research centers and public bodies to dialogue around the relevance of the space sector and its prospects.

Dr. Sergi Figuerola, CTIO at i2CAT will discuss with Fernando Ojeda, CEO at EURONA and Fernando Marín, mayor of Magaña, about the role of satellites to extend the digital connectivity around the country and bridging the digital divide in rural and remote areas. The panel discussion will be moderated by Antonio Abad, COO at Hispasat.

The event has been promoted by TEDAE, the Spanish Association of Defense, Security, Aeronautics and Space Technologies, and with INTA, CSIC, CDTI, Engineering Institute of Spain and Ministry of Defense as organizing entities.
