Crea&Play predicts to have 10 working initiatives at the end of summer

The Council of Vilanova presented this Saturday a new space dedicated to the application of new technologies, Crea&Play. It is composed of a gamification center, led by the public innovation agency Neàpolis, and a Virtual Reality Lab managed by the Media Internet Area of the i2CAT Foundation.

Crea&Play aims to support initiatives at the municipal level through gamified methodologies and advise companies to realize professional technical training. Among the various initiatives, the European project MedGaims, destined to gamify touristic experiences of the city, is already being developed here.

The facilities in which the project is located are an important part of guaranteeing its operation and enhancing Crea & Play’s desire to become a hub for attracting companies and professionals. Neàpolis is equipped with a set and an audio recording studio and hosting the Catalonia Film School and having agreements with the Municipal School of Art and Design (EMAID) and the ‘Polytechnic School of Engineering’ (EPSEVG).

Olga Arnau, mayoress of Vilanova i la Geltrú said that the idea is “to keep promoting working on new technologies and exploring new possible areas of application to put the city at the forefront in this sector.” Conxi Martínez, Business Councillor of Vilanova, sees Crea&Play as “the first step” of a strategy that aims to create new talent areas and new occupations. The project aims to explore the latest generation technologies, including virtual reality, augmented reality, and holoconferences.
