Yesterday, the Catalan research centre won the Cybersecurity Innovation Award at the Industry Solutions Awards 2025, promoted by the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, GSMA Foundry and B Lab Spain.
The award-winning solution is PreventUEBA, an AI-powered cyber risk prevention tool that shifts the paradigm from traditional threat detection to proactive risk prevention. Unlike conventional User and Entity Behaviour Analytics (UEBA) solutions, which primarily detect anomalies, PreventUEBA analyses user behaviour patterns to assess exposure to threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
Thanks to the information provided by PreventUEBA, it is possible to anticipate future risk situations and offer more efficient management of training activities for companies and organisations, tailoring them to the specific needs of each risk group.
In the words of the Cybersecurity Head of Innovation at i2CAT, Rodrigo Díaz, “human errors continue to be one of the main causes of cyber incidents. Training all workers and knowing their shortcomings is vital for organisations to minimise the sources of threats”. To help address this challenge, Díaz continues, “PreventUEBA provides comprehensive information on high-risk users by calculating an exposure score to a specific threat, which allows security professionals to prioritise corrective measures for each risk profile and develop long-term strategies to improve the digital cyber resilience of their infrastructures”.
The Industry Solutions Awards recognise the most innovative solutions that define the future of technology in various sectors.
