The i2CAT Foundation, a CERCA center for research and innovation in advanced digital technologies, focuses the efforts of this year’s MWC on explaining how to get the most out of 5G architecture, thanks to the knowledge and technologies generated in the development of R&D projects in recent years.
Connected products aimed at Industry 4.0, such as robots, AGVs, sensors and actuators, as well as the deployment of AI algorithms, should consider resource virtualization, slicing, edge computing and cybersecurity as opportunities to innovate and become essential to the 5G private networks that will be deployed across the industry value chain.
During this new edition of MWC, the center will present its vision of networks for Industry 4.0, in addition to the main results and projects in areas such as IoT, 5G/6G, immersive and interactive technologies, and artificial intelligence.
In addition, at the i2CAT booth visitors will also learn about the work of its spin-off Neutroon, which offers a cloud platform for the management of hybrid LTE/5G and Wi-Fi private networks to guarantee a more affordable, open and flexible access to these technologies.
i2CAT’s booth will showcase Neutroon’s Nomad 5G, a Private 5G + Edge pre-integrated solution, assembled and tested in Barcelona, and shippable worldwide in its flight case. The customer can fully customize the box and enjoy a plug & play experience when receiving it, as everything is already pre-provisioned in the Neutroon Cloud Platform
In addition, visitors will be able to see and test how the Neutroon system configurations work live from the congress. company in the Catalan 5G industry.
The pilot, developed within the framework of the 5G Catalunya project and promoted by the Catalan operator, incorporates vehicular communication standards (V2X) within 5G protocols to facilitate the communication of different autonomous devices. A monitored vehicle receives live and HQ images of areas that are located outside its field of vision, as well as information about incidents that may take place on its route, so that it can act quickly in the event of a possible risk or obstacle. Within the project, i2CAT has developed artificial intelligence image recognition and vehicular communication applications.
