i2CAT solves smart mobility challenges in cooperation with private sector partners

11/11/2024

From November 5th to 7th, i2CAT participated for the first time with its booth at Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress, showcasing how innovative solutions based on advanced digital technologies can solve smart mobility challenges.

In this edition, i2CAT highlighted the collaborations with some of its leading partners in the mobility sector: Applus +IDIADA and Autopistas. Thanks to more than 10 years of applied research experience in intelligent and connected mobility,  the research centre helps companies innovate and solve complex challenges through advanced technologies that adapt to their needs. The cooperation with Applus+ IDIADA within the  6GTWINROAD project tackles critical communications in dense scenarios and guarantees network fluidity to allow teledriving or efficient distribution of information among vehicles to make better decisions. With Autopistas and in the framework of the same project, i2CAT presented solutions to maintain security and sustainability in interurban critical infrastructure and network fluidity in critical scenarios like tunnels.

Our research staff work with technologies that impact the entire urban and interurban mobility ecosystem and enable the future Digital Twin.

Action also took place in other scenarios. The i2CAT team presented projects, results, and insights at SCEWC and the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit. Visitors could find us at SCEWC’s Innovation Playground Demo Area with Applus+ IDIADA presenting a connected vehicle equipped with an active perception system for remote driving and cooperative manoeuvers. Through an external screen, visitors can see how it detects the objects around it.

In the same area, visitors could see the OAC Mòbil, a van with a 5G connection via satellite that the Government of Catalonia’s Secretariat of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation launched last June as a pilot test in the Terres de l’Ebre to offer support and accompaniment service to people who need to procedures quickly and straightforwardly in rural municipalities far from fixed Citizen Service Offices (OAC). i2CAT supports the technical deployment of this mobile office within the TDA 5G Rural programme.
