Estel Ferrer Torres

Estel completed a double bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Systems Engineering and Telecommunications Systems Engineering, followed by a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, at UPC.

She began her professional career at i2CAT in September 2022 as a Research Engineer in the Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) area. Since then, she has been actively involved in the 6GSatNet project, contributing to the development of an AI-based inter-satellite link to enable heterogeneous satellite networks.

In October 2023, she started her Ph.D. in Aerospace Science and Technology at UPC, focusing on the design of a distributed, AI-driven routing protocol operating in highly dynamic and heterogeneous environments. In 2025, she received a three-year Joan Oró grant to pursue her doctoral studies. That same year, she also began a four-month internship at the National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Tokyo.
