Sergio Gimenez
He received the B.Sc. in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications from UPC, Barcelona, in 2020, and the M.Sc. in Advanced Telecommunication Technologies in 2022. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the same field at UPC, in collaboration with the Software Networks Research Group at i2CAT and Boston University.

Since 2020, he has worked as a researcher at i2CAT. In parallel with his research, he serves as the Module Development Group Leader for the Federation Manager at ETSI’s Open Operator Platform. He previously conducted a research stay at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and worked as a Research Engineer Intern at i2CAT (2019–2020). He has contributed to EU and Spanish R&D projects, including Horizon Europe and SNS programs.

His research interests include recursive network architectures, 6G, network virtualization, SDN, intent-based networking, and programmable data planes. He has experience in protocol development, sysadmin tasks, automation, development of network APIs, and development of LLM and agent-based applications.
