No és feina de dones?

An initiative to reduce the gender gap in the ICT sector, highlight female talent, and inspire new vocations

The “No és feina de dones?” project, led by i2CAT and Telecos.cat, is aligned with the 2025 theme of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), dedicated to gender equality in digital transformation. The initiative aims to help reduce the gender gap in the ICT sector, highlight female talent, and promote women’s leadership in the digital and technology sectors in Catalonia.

The project focuses on three main areas:

  • Highlighting and recognizing the talent of women in ICT, through conferences, workshops, and sectoral events.
  • Creating and strengthening networks of women in ICT, with collaboration, knowledge exchange, and mentorship spaces, such as the network established on the Decidim platform.
  • Analyzing the sector’s reality, through research based on surveys and interviews, to identify inequalities and propose good practices.

Throughout the project, more than 40 women speakers participated in events such as the World Telecommunication Day, Business Forum, Diada de Sant Gabriel, and the “Dones en les TIC: Reescrivim el codi” workshop, reaching over 550 attendees. Mentoring activities were also carried out, guiding students in their professional orientation within the ICT sector.

“No és feina de dones?” has received support from the Government of Catalonia and funding from the European Next Generation EU programme

The final study conducted within the project reveals that 65% of women in the sector perceive gender inequalities, more than 70% report a lack of female role models and persistent social stereotypes, and 45% have experienced discrimination. The project proposes strengthening networks, consolidating training paths adapted to different career stages, and promoting women in leadership positions.
