6GDIFERENTE will address two of the major challenges of advanced 6G mobile communications:
Furthermore, driven by the 6G network development schedule, new promising and fundamental technologies for 6G will be explored, especially those identified both at the level of European R&D support programs for communication networks (6G-IA and SNS-JU), and those promoted by the scientific community in relation to the new functionalities expected from future 6G networks. To this end, the infrastructure and techniques developed and integrated within the virtualized and federated infrastructure built in the Open-VERSO Cervera Center of Excellence project will be expanded towards new challenges and technologies.
The 6GDIFERENTE Group is formed by three leading technology centers in the field of information technologies:
Within the framework of the project, i2CAT will lead Work Packages (WP) 2 (Convergent 6G network architecture and development of communication infrastructures) and 4 (Federated and cooperative experimentation services). In WP2, i2CAT’s research staff will provide key functionalities to the unified 6G networks with the federated experimentation network, while in WP4, the objective is to provide the federated network with tools for remote and collaborative configuration and monitoring.
The Cervera Center 6GDIFERENTE has identified the following objectives:
