Centre Demostrador d’Espais de Dades de Catalunya

Enabling the data economy with trust, security, and interoperability

The Centre Demostrador d’Espais de Dades is a collaborative initiative, designed to support and accelerate the development of use cases that propel the digital economy in critical sectors such as healthcare, mobility, and industry.

Data spaces are digital ecosystems where businesses, organizations, and public administrations can securely exchange and utilize data, using the right tools and standards to ensure that data owners retain full control over how their data is used. This collaborative data model facilitates secure data and service exchanges, aiming to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, foster innovative solutions, and achieve shared strategic objectives.

The initiative offers:

  • Testing infrastructure: Provides the necessary tools, components, and services for organizations to efficiently test use cases, at a reduced cost, while staying aligned with the evolution of European standards, such as the Dataspace Protocol.
  • Technical and consultancy support: Offers expert guidance and advice to organizations on best practices and European standards for secure data exchange.
  • Participation in European initiatives: Engages participants in national and European forums and working groups to identify new opportunities, evolve their use cases, and create new ones.
  • Use case value demonstration: Shares the outcomes of projects to inspire new developments, facilitate knowledge transfer, and promote successful experiences.

The Centre Demostrador d’Espais de Dades de Catalunya is an initiative promoted by the Government of Catalonia, through the Secretariat for Digital Policies and i2CAT research center.
