PoDIUM aims to advance a set of key technologies both in the physical and digital part of the infrastructure to address the challenges in road automation and telecommunications linked with connectivity, cooperation, data management, interoperability, and reliability to foster the development of advanced Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) solutions.
The project will carry out demonstrations in real-life conditions of specific use cases in three Living Labs deployed in Germany, Italy, and Spain in different urban, highway and cross-border environments.
The final outcome of PoDIUM will be a reference architecture that can be applied to various road environments and infrastructure equipment.
Within the project, i2CAT will play a crucial role in Work Package 3, “Technical innovation and development”, and Work Package 5, “Use cases evaluation and demonstration”. Particularly, i2CAT will lead the technical evaluation of the Use Cases and the demonstration activities in the Living Labs. This task will coordinate and carry out all activities related to the preparation and execution of demonstration trials for each PoDIUM Use Case. This task will comprehensively evaluate the technical performance of the technologies and solutions developed and integrated in the PoDIUM platform architecture (WP3 & WP4).
Main activities:
i2CAT will use the project to leverage its leading role in developing 5G technologies, particularly in CCAM applications.
