Research Line Manager "Space Networking" - UPC Collaboration Agreement
PhD. Joan A. Ruiz-de-Azua was born in Barcelona, Spain. He received the degree in aerospace engineering from Supaero (France), and the degree in telecommunications engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain, in 2015. Additionally, he received the Ph.D. degree of telecommunications engineering with the UPC, Barcelona (Spain), in 2020. His dissertation contributed to the Internet of Satellites paradigm in which satellites from different stakeholders establish temporal, opportunistic, and collaborative Inter-Satellite Networks. For this contribution, he was awarded with the Cum Laude mention. Furthermore, he has participated in six CubeSat missions highlighting the 6G-StarLab (on-going). This mission envisions to provide an in-orbit laboratory to support the developments and the standardization of NTN. Currently, he is responsible of the Space Networking research line in the Space Communication Research Group in i2CAT Foundation and Professor in UPC.
