Sergi Figuerola
Sergi Figuerola, PhD, is the Director of the i2CAT Research Centre, which has over 20 years of experience on advanced digital technologies, their architecture, applications, and services.

Mr Figuerola holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering and a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from the Department of Signal Theory and Communications at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He also holds a General Management Program certification from IESE and a Master’s degree in Project Management from La Salle (URL). He joined i2CAT in 2004 as the Coordinator of the Network Technologies area, becoming the Director of Distributed Networks and Applications in 2010, and Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTIO) in 2013.

Over the past few decades, he has held roles in various research projects funded by the European Commission, specialising in telecommunications networks, 5G, and the next generation of the Internet. He has contributed to over 50 scientific publications.
