The Catalan Government launches CIDAI, a public-private partnership to promote Artificial Intelligence

The Centre of Innovation for Data tech and Artificial Intelligence (CIDAI) is a public-private partnership to promote technology transfer and to foster collaborative projects between research centers, companies, and institutions in Artificial Intelligence. CIDAI is an initiative of the Catalan Government, the Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the Computer Vision Center, Eurecat, Everis, i2CAT, Microsoft and SDG Group.

Framed within the CataloniaAI strategy, the CIDAI was presented by the Catalan Government last February 18th. During the presentation, the President of Catalonia, Quim Torra, explained this strategy could consolidate Catalonia as a world technology hub in artificial intelligence technology. “We have to take advantage of Artificial Intelligence to increase the individual and collective well-being,” said the president.

The initiative aims to transfer reliable Artificial Intelligence technologies with high added value to promote innovation in the country’s strategic sectors.

“The CIDAI is one of the core initiatives of the Catalonia.AI strategy with the vision of becoming a reference point for companies about how Artificial Intelligence can benefit and solve their needs,” explains Josep Paradells, director of the i2CAT Foundation.
