Deputy Software Defined Wireless Networks Research Line Manager & Senior Researcher
Dr. Miguel Catalan-Cid is Deputy Software Defined Wireless Networks Research Line Manager and Senior Researcher in the Mobile Wireless Internet Research Area at i2CAT in Barcelona.
He works on 5G and beyond-5G technologies, focusing on network architecture, protocol optimisation, and intelligent network automation. He has over 15 years of experience and has participated in European and Spanish research projects as Principal Investigator, Work Package Leader, and Technical Leader.
His experience includes Wi-Fi and cellular systems, protocol design, optimisation, and programming. He is the inventor of a patent that improves video streaming quality in dense wireless environments and has contributed to Neutroon, an i2CAT spin-off focused on 5G private networks.
He holds a Ph.D. (2016) and a Master’s degree (2008) from UPC, with current interests in O-RAN architectures and AI-driven wireless optimisations.
