From 3 to 5 November 2026, the i2CAT Research and Innovation Centre will once again participate in the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), the leading international congress on innovation and solutions for smart cities and territories.
The i2CAT stand (Hall 3, D50, booth 18) will showcase for the first time the Delton Labs by i2CAT infrastructure, a state-of-the-art testing environment designed to help companies, start-ups and institutions validate and test technologies in real-world settings before commercialisation, helping them advance their technology maturity levels or TRL (Technology Readiness Level).
Delton Labs is a decentralised infrastructure strategically distributed across Catalonia, from facilities at Pier 01, the Barcelona World Trade Centre (WTC), and the Port of Barcelona to rural and observation environments such as Móra la Nova. It is also an open infrastructure for the ecosystem, designed to democratise access to research by offering a shared industrial environment and a portfolio of agile services (simulation, modelling, and validation) at affordable prices, without requiring large investments in your own equipment.
At the stand, you can discover Delton Labs’ services and capabilities with support from i2CAT’s commercial and technical team.
i2CAT is one of the participating organisations in the initiatives to be showcased at the Generalitat de Catalunya stand (Hall 3, D50) and the Barcelona City Council stand (Hall 2, D151), demonstrating the real-world application of technological research in service of citizens and the territory.
At the Generalitat’s stand, you can learn about five collaboration projects with innovative companies. These include the smart mobility trials in the Vall de Boí led by i2CAT. A demonstration video will showcase two pilot projects in the Upper Pyrenees that combine computer vision, satellite connectivity (NTN), and IoT sensors to monitor access to the Mirador de Cavallers viewpoint, manage parking spaces, and decongest high-traffic tourist areas in real time.
The progress of the pilot trials carried out in the Delta de l’Ebre to establish air corridors with drones dedicated to rapidly transporting biological samples and medicines between primary care centres and district hospitals, such as those in Mora d’Ebre and Tortosa, will also be showcased.
At the Barcelona City Council stand, you can learn more about the DIMOS 5G project, led by i2CAT and Autopistas, which has validated a digital twin with 5G and V2X on the C-32 that coordinates traffic in real time to give ambulances priority. This pioneering system is expected to reduce emergency service arrival times by up to 20%, a crucial factor in increasing victim survival.
In the Catalan ecosystem, i2CAT drives the communities of the Digital Catalonia Alliance (DCA), an initiative promoted by the Secretariat for Digital Policies of the Government of Catalonia to connect and strengthen the region’s emerging technology sectors. During the event, the DCA will have a space in the Catalonia Pavilion (Hall 3 D50), from where various events, innovation challenge competitions, solution presentations and solution demonstration routes for the public sector will be organised.
The i2CAT staff will be present at the following activities during the congress:
