Our sustainability strategy focuses on four key verticals: water management, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable mobility. By leveraging innovations such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, and intelligent networks, i2CAT develops solutions that optimise resource usage, enhance efficiency, and minimise environmental impact.
Additionally, we work to develop strategies that make these digital technologies more sustainable without compromising their efficiency or innovation capacity. To achieve this, it is essential to design technology that adheres to efficiency and sustainability criteria, minimises unnecessary resource consumption, and fosters research into new models that integrate both dimensions.
Sustainability
At i2CAT, our EOSMS Project is revolutionising agriculture with an AI-powered solution that monitors soil moisture using satellite data. This innovation directly optimises irrigation and slashes water consumption, empowering farmers with precision farming. The result? Reduced costs, boosted productivity, and a more sustainable future for food production.
The ExtremeXP project is harnessing advanced big data processing to transform decision-making for a sustainable future. By optimising the analysis of massive datasets, we empower industries and organisations to gain critical insights, leading to more informed and impactful choices for environmental and economic well-being.
Holomit is pioneering photorealistic holoportation technology that revolutionises real-time 3D communication for VR/AR/XR. By leveraging cutting-edge compression, Holomit drastically reduces bandwidth consumption and the need for physical travel, thereby significantly lowering its carbon footprint. This innovation enables seamless, multi-user immersive experiences, transforming everything from corporate events and education to entertainment and gaming with unparalleled efficiency and accessibility.
The Save V2X project is significantly enhancing the safety of Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) and urban mobility. Our team achieves this by harnessing V2X communications and GNSS-RTK technology for real-time trajectory prediction, integrated into ACISA’s M-Hub virtualisation environment. This innovation significantly reduces accidents and optimises traffic flows, providing cities with a low-latency, high-bandwidth mobility infrastructure for safer, more efficient urban environments.
Framed in the Centre Demostrador d’Espais de Dades project, a use case has been developed in the field of mobility, with the aim of optimizing urban traffic management.
