Living lab Senegal

Promotion of four living labs in Senegal to drive the country’s digital transformation, through the collaboration of FDSUT, ACCD and i2CAT

The Living Lab Senegal project aims to establish a network of digital social innovation laboratories in four municipalities of the country — Dangalma, Kaolack, Ziguinchor, and Saint-Louis — to address local development challenges through digital social innovation.

The initiative, led by the Fonds de Développement du Service Universel des Télécommunications (FDSUT), with the support of the Government of Catalonia, through the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation, and i2CAT, aligns with Senegal’s national digital transformation strategy. The New Digital Deal advocates for a model of international cooperation focused on technological sovereignty, inclusion, and local empowerment.

The project adopts the Living Lab methodology as its core approach, creating collaborative innovation spaces where local communities — in partnership with public institutions, universities, and the productive sector — actively identify their challenges and co-create solutions tailored to their needs. This approach ensures that digital transformation is not limited to technological infrastructure but also involves building strong, resilient local ecosystems capable of generating social, economic, and environmental value.

i2CAT plays a strategic and technological role in the project, contributing its expertise in the Living Lab methodology and the application of advanced digital technologies.
