RED DE IMPULSO PARA EL LIDERAZGO EUROPEO EN COMUNICACIONES MOVILES BASADAS EN TECNOLOGIA 6G
IMPACT6G is a strategic network that brings together the Universitat Politècnica de València, i2CAT, Gradiant, and the University of Murcia, leading R&D&I entities, with the aim of positioning Spain as a key player in the global race for sixth-generation (6G) wireless technologies. To achieve this, IMPACT6G seeks to influence European R&D&I policies, reinforcing Spain’s presence in initiatives like the European Commission’s Framework Programme through collaboration with the Centre for the Development of Technology and Innovation (CDTI) and other international initiatives. The network also encourages collaboration between universities, technology centers, and the private sector to create an experimentation infrastructure that validates advancements and accelerates 6G development in the country. In a context of intense global competition, this coordinated effort is crucial to securing Spain’s leadership in the future of mobile communications.
Within IMPACT6G, i2CAT is responsible for Work Package 5 (WP5): Spain’s Influence on European Initiatives. This package is the key driver for the network’s international positioning, ensuring that Spanish priorities are integrated into the European Union’s 6G roadmap.
The main tasks of WP5 include:
The IMPACT6G Strategic Network aims to ensure that Spanish research and development translates into global leadership in new 6G generation technologies. The impact of the network’s work will be measured based on three key deliverables that will directly influence Spain’s scientific policy, industrial structure, and international positioning.
Transformative Impact by Dimension:
Collectively, IMPACT6G’s results are designed to boost the quality of life and equitable and sustainable economic development in Spain.
