Junior R&D Engineer
Alexandre holds an MSc in Data Science from UOC (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering (Specialization in Computation) from FIB, complemented by prior professional experience in web development and IT support. Currently a Junior Audio Research Engineer in the Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) department at i2CAT, Alexandre specializes in speech recognition, audio processing, explainable AI, and local LLM deployment. His research trajectory began with the SIEVA project, applying machine learning and log explainability to cyber threat detection. He has since driven key audio and natural language initiatives, including privacy-first home assistant technologies (RED.es-Simon) and automated speech data extraction pipelines (Simon-AINA), work which culminated in a peer-reviewed publication (DOI: 10.3233/FAIA240421). His broad portfolio of high-impact engineering also includes ambient health monitoring (DIH-Showee), AI composite tools for law enforcement (Retrats Robot AI-Mossos), pediatric emergency ASR (Ona), Catalan Sign Language translation for public administration (Govtech LSC Translator), and the deployment of local LLM infrastructure to enhance internal DAI workflows.
