Director Software Networks Research Group
Dr. Pouria Sayyad Khodashenas is the Director of the Software Networks Research Group at the i2CAT Foundation, Chair of the 5G/6G for Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) Working Group at the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA), and a member of the Technical Steering Committee (TSC) of the Open Operator Platform (OOP) SDG at ETSI. He has more than 15 years of international experience in telecommunications research and innovation. He leads research and innovation activities in 5G/6G networks, edge computing, cloud-native and service-based architectures. He received his PhD in Telecommunications from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), where he was awarded the Best PhD Award. He has served as a 5G and edge computing advisor to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and worked as a 6G expert at Huawei Technologies in Sweden. Dr. Khodashenas has coordinated major European research projects, including the €7 million H2020 CARAMEL project and the €10 million Horizon Europe Zero-SWARM project, and has contributed to numerous European and national initiatives, including 5G-PPP Sat5G, 5G-PPP SESAME, and the Spanish ONOFRE I and ONOFRE II projects, where he served as Principal Investigator. He has actively contributed to international standardization and industry organizations, including 3GPP SA2, ETSI, 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA), 5G Automotive Association (5GAA), One6G Association, and the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA). He has authored more than 100 scientific publications, with over 1,900 citations, and has an h-index of 23 and an i10-index of 41.
