Equality and diversity At i2CAT, we strive to ensure equity, diversity, and respect in all areas of the centre, creating spaces where there is no room for any kind of discrimination. In this sense, i2CAT not only considers equality from a gender perspective, but also from a broader perspective, encompassing factors such as origin or nationality, age, various family situations, cultural diversity, religion and beliefs, and sexual orientation. We firmly believe that these factors cannot and should not be barriers to talent in the professional environment, but rather are values to be promoted and that enrich us as a centre. Diversity is a differential value, an added value. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development identifies science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as key protagonists in promoting the consolidation of more inclusive and equitable societies. Some of these Sustainable Development Goals, such as gender equality (SDG 5) and the reduction of inequalities (SDG 10), are directly related to equality plans and specific measures for the LGBTI community. In this sense, i2CAT is aligned with these types of goals to promote a more just, sustainable and egalitarian world. The report “Women in Catalonia 2023” by the Catalan Women’s Institute shows that the presence of women in the ICT sector has stagnated at 30% since 2019. Therefore, there is a long way to go to achieve a fair and equitable sector. We must continue working to advance towards equal opportunities for all people.
