9th IEEE Conference on Network Functions Virtualization and Software-Defined Networking

7 November 2023 // 9 November 2023

From 7 to 9 November 2023, the city of Dresden (Germany) will host the 9th IEEE Conference on Network Functions Virtualization and Software-Defined Networking (IEEE NFV-SDN 2023). This year’s edition will focus on the foundation, design, verification, operation, security, and evolution of virtualized network functions, with the current emphasis on Cloud Native CNFs in addition to the more traditional VNFs. Additionally of interest includes advances in SDN concepts. Performance, manageability and more recently the implications of energy consumption continue to be active areas as well as the virtualization efforts going on in the radio and the management of the radio using AI/ML.

On November 8, Miguel Catalan, senior researcher at the Mobile Wireless Area (MWI), will participate in the technical sessión 1: RAN and Network Slicing to present the paper i2Slicer: Enabling Flexible and Automated Orchestration of 5G SA End-to-End Network Slices (Miguel Catalan-Cid, Adriana Fernández, Dani Camps, Shuaib Siddiqui). The paper presents i2Slicer, a flexible solution to orchestrate the deployment of 5G standalone end-to-end network slices with multi-tenancy and multi-service capabilities. The implementation and evaluation of i2Slicer using state-of-the-art 5G software and hardware demonstrate that it offers practical and efficient lifecycle management of network slices. The solution has been developed within the scope of the projects 5G-VICTORI, 6GSMART and 6GENABLERS.

Within the framework of this conference, Sonu Preetam, Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst at the CyberSecurity & Blockchain research area, will participate at the NFV-SDN’23 Doctoral Symposium to present the paper titled An Approach for Intelligent Behaviour-Based Threat Modelling with Explanations.
