The i2CAT Foundation will be present in the 2019 edition of SIL, Southern Europe’s leading exhibition on logistics, transport, intralogistics and material handling. The research center will exhibit a battery-less, encrypted and 100% reliable tracking system that combines the potential of IoT with the highest levels of security offered by Blockchain.
To attain the standard of quality and transparency that both manufacturers and end users demand for their products, i2CAT has developed a solution consisting on an external NFC tag and an internal sensor which can measure a diversity of parameters. Thanks to the combination of IoT and Blockchain the system can:
Only a smartphone is required to interact with the NFC tag, and this exchange is enough to power the tag into reading the sensor’s information. Once the sensor is read, the application sends the data to the Blockchain, where it is registered, confirmed unchangeably and available to anyone who wishes to consult it. Furthermore, every NFC tag contains a symmetric code that is only known by the manufacturer and that empowers him/her to corroborate that the data stored in the Blockchain corresponds with the readings made by the sensor.
